Yarrabilba: Teenage boy dies after e-scooter crash

A teenage boy has died in hospital after he suffered serious head injuries when he was thrown from his electric scooter riding at 20km/h near Logan last week. The 15-year-old reportedly fell off his e-scooter while riding on the footpath in Yarrabilba around 8.30am on Tuesday.

A teenage boy has died in hospital after he suffered serious head injuries when he was thrown from his electric scooter riding at 20km/h near Logan last week.

The 15-year-old reportedly fell off his e-scooter while riding on the footpath in Yarrabilba around 8.30am on Tuesday.

He was thrown from the scooter at speed out the front of Yarrabilba State Secondary College and struck his head on the footpath.

Police confirmed with the Courier Mail that he was not wearing a helmet.

He had been travelling around 20km/h when he lost control of the scooter.

The teenager was fighting for life at the intensive care unit of Princess Alexandria Hospital for close to a week after the incident.

He underwent emergency brain surgery but died in hospital on Sunday.

The forensic crash unit and child protection and investigation unit are investigating the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
