Not all celebrities know how to drive; and no, we’re not talking about the ones you see on the news every other day because they were involved in yet another accident or driving mishap. Some celebrities simply do not know how to drive. They are either scared, never got around to getting their driver’s license or never bothered learning. In a world where so many celebs are in accidents on a regular basis, perhaps it’s a good thing some simply rely on their drivers to get them where they need to go. Read on to find out which celebs don’t drive.

Barbara Streisand
She’s a little bit of an exception to the “Doesn’t know how to drive,” rule. Babs does know how to drive; at least, she used to know how to drive. The famous singer and actress did have a driver’s license at one point in her life. Whether or not she renews it is not something we know. What we do know is that she told an interviewer a few years ago that she hasn’t driven since at least the early 1990s, but she could be mistaken and hasn’t actually driven a car since the 1980s. She just doesn’t remember.

Tina Fey
She’s a funny lady and she was being interviewed by a funny man, so we’re not sure whether or not to take her seriously. However, when Tina Fey was interviewed by Jerry Seinfeld, she admitted to him she has no driver’s license and doesn’t remember how to do it. It leads us to think she probably had one at some point in time and just let it go as she became more famous. She does rely on a driver to get her where she needs to go, and cabs when she’s in NYC, which she is fairly often.

Ricky Gervais
He’s hosted the Golden Globes twice, won many awards and starred in some of the funniest movies around, but this funnyman does not know how to drive. Why? Well, who knows? He’s said before that he’s simply not interested in driving, so we’re not sure whether it makes him nervous, or he just doesn’t see the point. What we do know is that he’s well above the legal driving age and he hasn’t bothered to learn, but that’s okay. He has a driver that’s paid handsomely to get him from point A to point B.

Vincent Kartheiser
The Mad Men star has a simple outlook on driving; he doesn’t do it. He’s been known to say in interviews that he doesn’t drive because he sees no point in it. What’s refreshing about this actor, however, is that he doesn’t employ a full-time driver, either. He takes two different buses each morning to the set of Mad Men, using his time aboard his buses to rehearse and read his script. He makes a point of telling people that he prefers this method of transportation because he’s not stressed out driving through traffic or rushing around to learn his lines.

Robbie Williams
At 37-years-old, can you imagine not having a driver’s license; especially in a city such as Los Angeles? That’s exactly how Robbie Williams, English pop star and songwriter (sometimes actor) lives his life. He’s said in the past that driving in London is so bad that he never bothered to get a license. Driving in Los Angeles isn’t that much of an improvement over London’s driving scene, so the star never bothered to get his license here, either. When he has somewhere to go, he simply takes a cab. He might be better served in NYC.

Amy Winehouse
Though she’s no longer with us, the soulful singer never learned to drive. In 2010, she posted to twitter that she wanted to learn how to drive, but never did. Her travel schedule, tour schedule and other goings-on in life didn’t give her the time or opportunity to learn to drive, so she was constantly chauffeured around by her driver. She was also a celebrity that had no problem taking a cab when she needed to go somewhere. Though for the most part, she had a driver that would get her where she needed to be when she needed to be there.

Carey Mulligan
She didn’t know how to drive until she was 25-years-old. The actress was forced to learn to drive for her role in the 2010 movie “Never Let Me Go,” even though she was always afraid of crashing. She had to work with a driver to teach her the ins and outs of driving so that she could take on her role in the movie. She spent time with her driver earlier that year so he could teach her the rules, the ins and outs and everything else she needed to know so that she could drive in her film.

Robert Pattinson
While he does have a license, Robert Pattinson made it his business to let Ellen DeGeneres know that he doesn’t actually know how to drive. He owns a vehicle and does drive himself around, but he’s a hazard to the road. He told the talk show host a few years ago that despite the fact that he can’t drive, he does. He spends time behind the wheel in Los Angeles but he has no idea how to use the windshield wipers (or even what they’re called). He admitted he has no idea how to do even the most basic things behind the wheel, which leads us to wonder if he really does have a license or not.

Russell Brand
The British comedian did not learn how to drive until just a few years ago. He made the comment in several interviews that he simply never had the desire to learn to drive. He suffered from addiction much of his younger life, became clean and sober and focused on things he found more important. Then he married Katy Perry. Before they divorced a few years ago, he made the comment to a talk show host that he felt bad that she did all the driving in their relationship and that he’d decided he would learn how to drive.

Lena Dunham
This actress does not drive. She has said time and time again that her mindset is very similar to that of Carey Mulligan, her fellow non-driver. She’s terrified of being the cause of a vehicle accident and injuring herself or someone else, so she refuses to drive. Since she has no license, she often relies on the assistance of a driver to take her where she needs to go. She’s not, however, afraid to use public transportation when she needs to. She’s open to any form of travel provided it doesn’t require that she get her own license.
